Disney Magic 2018 Dry Dock Update: Vibe & Edge

During the 2018 dry dock of the Disney Magic, spaces dedicated to tweens and teens were modified and renovated. In this post, we have some before and after looks of each venue along with a video tour of Vibe.

Starting off on deck 10 in the forward funnel, Vibe, exclusively for teenagers (14-17), underwent a major remodel from what could be best described as a dorm room environment to an trendy urban loft.

The following is a video walkthrough of the renovated Vibe aboard the Disney Magic.

The remodel changed the overall vibe of the space. Before it seemed like one of those places you could hang out in and not worry if you spilled something on the furnatiure because it had that hand me down furniture college apartment or basement hangout reminiscent of That 70’s Show. Now, the teen retreat feels like you are visiting your older sibling who is a few years out of college and would flip a gasket if you spilled anything on the carpet. Don’t get me wrong, the remodel looks great and I am sure it will be a place teens will want to hang out in.

Below are some before and after looks of Vibe. All before photos are from October 2013.

The back room of Vibe now features a seating area with a couple cabinets where we noticed some books, iPads, and a Nintendo Switch.

The coffee and smoothie bar remains with a new, lighter colored countertop, but during our tour there was little evidence of it being used to serve those beverages. In fact, you can see a Not In Service sign on the Nespresso machine.

Moving down to the pool deck to EDGE, the space reserved for guests 11-14, underwent a major renovation in 2015. In fact, EDGE was moved from deck 2 into the current location which was once the arcade.

During the 2018 dry dock, EDGE received a Wonder-esque update. Partitioning walls which provided storage were removed to open up the space and a bar was added at the entrance bringing the venue more in line with the sister location on the Disney Wonder. One of the more drastic, but unnoticeable update was the floor was raised in order to add soundproofing in an attempt to prevent noise from disturbing guests in stateroom 8530, the Roy O. Disney Royal Suite which is directly below.

That’s exactly what I thought! Visually not very interesting – empty. I sometimes think Disney forgets who they are!

Do the kids have to pay for the coffee and smoothies in Vibe and what is served at the ‘bar’ in Edge? Thanks!
