Special Offers on Disney Cruise Line Sailings as of 9/11/2017

This week’s special offers from Disney Cruise Line continue to feature sail dates for everyone. The Florida Resident and US Military rates extend for into late December with most of the Disney Magic’s New York departures available with the MTO rate. The Canadian Resident offer remains unchanged. DCL continues to offer the VGT rate that anyone can book for 20% off the prevailing rate for select voyages aboard the Disney Magic from New York this fall. The FLR and MTO rates are available to book today through Sunday, September 17, 2017, while inventory lasts.

In other news, we expect to hear from DCL tomorrow regarding the fate of upcoming Eastern Caribbean cruises after Hurricane Irma ripped through the Virgin Islands. We met Hurricane Irma last night just before 1:30 AM as a Category 2 hurricane. It was a humbling experience and I cannot fathom going through this on an island in the Caribbean.

Finally, the Disney Wonder finished her final Alaskan cruise of the season and depart Vancouver later today on a 4-Night repositioning cruise to San Diego. The Wonder will then spend the remainder of September and the majority of October sailing a series of Mexican Riviera and Baja cruises. On Saturday, the Disney Magic will end her European season and embark on an 11-Night Transatlantic cruise to New York.

Scott: I’m very glad to hear that you and your family fared well through Irma! I hope you guys have power and water!! I’ve been through some hurricanes living on the southeast coast of Virginia, but I’m sure Irma was much worse than anything I’ve experienced. I’m anxiously refreshing and waiting for an update from DCL on my 9/23 cruise. We’re heading down to WDW next Wednesday for a few days before the cruise. What a harrowing time this hurricane season has been! Be well! °o°

I am wondering if Disney is going to cancel more cruises and use the ships for humanitarian aid to the islands like Royal Caribbean is doing?

Very unlikely and I wouldn’t blame them for not doing so. DCL only has 2 ships in the Caribbean unlike the multiples that other lines have. Additionally, they have already announced that they anticipate the Dream 9/15 cruise and the Fantasy 9/16 cruise will sail as planned.

Obviously you are correct – I was wrong for generalizing the Bahamas and the Caribbean together – but the intent of my comment was that DCL only has two ships (the Dream and the Fantasy) operating even remotely near the areas affected by Hurricane Irma, whereas most other lines have several ships operating in the same area.
