Thank you Jennifer Underhill for sharing the navigators and the following mini-trip report.

This cruise was AMAZING.

On Endicott Arm day, the crew brought a chunk of iceberg onto Deck 9 around 4pm and set it in the gazebo. It was there through the next day, when they moved it to the edge of the deck by the windows. It was really cool to see it up close.

This was our first 7 day cruise on Disney. My parents are platinum Castaway Club, and I’m gold, but we always do 3 or 4 day cruises. We ate in Tiana’s Place 3 times. The last night they did a second line through the restaurant and it was so much fun. The Cajun sea bass was the best! I love the sea bass in Enchanted Garden, but this even beat that!

In Skagway we did the helicopter ride to the glacier. It was definitely the highlight of the trip for the family, including my mother who is scared to death to fly. The guides on the glacier were very knowledgeable and the pilots were great. We would definitely do that again and highly recommend it to everyone. The heli pad is right across from the dock, so you just walk across a parking lot to get on the helicopter. It was so simple.

In Juneau we did the gold panning excursion with the salmon bake. We also loved this excursion. We had a blast and the tour guide was knowledgeable and fun. The food at the salmon bake was delicious. Later we got a crepe at the Crepe Escape in Juneau. Lots of crew were eating there too. 🙂

I don’t recommend the excursion we did in Ketchikan (KE06). The tour guide made more jokes than he gave us historical information. We went to Saxman Totem Park, which has less than 10 totem poles (we saw more in Stanley Park in Vancouver). We were given more time in the gift shop than we were in the park. Then he dropped us off at Creek Street. Very disappointing. We had heard from a Dream crew member that the lumberjack show was fun, so when we got back from the excursion we went to see it. It was a lot of fun! So glad we did that. Then we ate next door at the Alaska Fish Company restaurant, which was also recommended to us. We had fish and chips that were delicious!
Our big regret was not doing a whale watching tour. We saw one (small part) of a whale’s back from the ship on glacier day. Several families on whale excursions saw tons of humpbacks and even orcas.

From the ship we did see many harbor seals (on glacier day), eagles, porpoises, and jumping fish.

In Vancouver we did a hop-on, hop-off trolley that was a great way to see the city. Our fave things were Stanley Park (I highly recommend hopping off at the totem poles) and Granville Island. Granville Island has a very cool Public Market to walk through (we wish we hadn’t already eaten, because it would’ve been fun to eat there), as well as some craft breweries and shops.

It was unbelievably amazing. We treated it as a once in a lifetime trip, but now are talking about going again. That’s how good it was.

Oh – I tried the “Dole whip” on deck 9. It was awful. It does not taste like the Dole Whip you get at MK. The consistency was more like a soft serve sorbet. I didn’t even finish it. Maybe it was just that batch, but it was not good. There was pina colada soft serve in Eye Scream that was great though.

We had a 1pm flight out of Vancouver when we returned. We did express walk off, grabbed a cab right away, and were at the airport by 8. It was very easy and smooth.

Stanley Park and Granville Island are wonderful, we visited both when we did this cruise last year. We stayed near English Bay, it was the perfect location for these sites. I wasn’t excited about this cruise because I don’t like to be cold, but it was incredible and I would definitely do it again.

a shop near me started serving Dole whip and I thought the same thing, maybe it really depends on the machine…
