Thanks for the fun podcast. A couple of comments:

The Magic is our favorite ship as well. We just booked the Oct. 29, 2018 5-night NY-Bermuda-NY itinerary. The fare for 2 adults in a cat. 5B was about $120/person higher than the 5-night Western Caribbean from Miami on the Magic in January, 2018. The Oct. 29 sailing includes Halloween and the January sailing is a Marvel Day at Sea sailing, so each includes a special event. Both cruises were booked on opening day. We were afraid that the initial pricing for Bermuda might be much higher.

It’s the Passenger Vessel Services Act of 1886 that restricts foreign-flagged passenger ships from carrying passengers between different US ports without a stop at a “distant” foreign port (rather than the Jones Act of 1920 that applies a similar restriction to cargo carrying ships). North American ports include all of Mexico, the Bahamas, Bermuda, and the Caribbean. The Panama Canal repositioning cruises need to include a South American port to avoid running aground (figuratively speaking). For DCL, that’s usually Cartagena. There is also a waiver for Puerto Rico until US flagged carriers begin to provide transportation. This would appear to permit booking of the NY-Puerto Rico cruise on Nov. 24 back-to-back with the Puerto Rico-Miami cruise on Nov. 30. Of course a DCL booking cast member may have a different interpretation.

LOL at some of your comments. We booked the Vancouver-San Diego repo in September specifically because it was “something different” – & flying from Indiana! Until you explained it, I too hadn’t made the connection to Goonies. Very cool. We’re doing the glassblowing PA, so probably won’t have much to share related to the movie.
