Palo – Be Our Chef: A New Culinary Experience Coming Soon to the Disney Fantasy

An all new culinary experience, Palo – Be Our Chef is coming soon to the Disney Fantasy. According to an email from DCL Shoreside Concierge the adult-only Palo – Be Our Chef experience will debut on the December 3, 2016 sailing of the Disney Fantasy. Little is known about what the experience will entail other than it will offer guests the opportunity to learn how to prepare four of the exquisite Northern Italian Palo dishes from on of the Palo chefs and leave with a keepsake. It is unclear if this is a hint at the keepsake, but those who have booked this experience so far have been asked which size chef jacket they wear.

Palo – Be Our Chef will be limited to 8 guests and will occur on the port days of Tortola on the Eastern Caribbean itineraries and Grand Cayman on the Westerns. The price for Palo – Be Our Chef is $279 per person.

Below is a copy of the original email from DCL Concierge. I’d like to thank Mark Bell for sharing this information with us as well as checking back with DCL for the pricing.

** PLEASE NOTE: All information is subject to change without notice and should be confirmed just prior to your sailing.

Since, this experience is not yet offered it is important to reiterate that this experience is subject to change and may or may to be available for your Disney Fantasy voyage. Finally, we are unsure if this will remain a word of mouth event that can be booked only in person once on the ship or if it will be added as an online pre-booking activity. For anyone interested in this experience I’d suggest visiting the Palo reservation desk listed on the embarkation day navigator or visit the podium outside Meridian to inquire about availability.

What do you think about this new experience based on what we know? Are you interested in booking this on a future Disney Fantasy voyage?

Looks good but a bit pricey. A similar excursion in Cozumel last year was only $92. I know it is not the same but $279 per person is too much. Since it is limited to only 8 people and only one time per cruise, it will probably fill up though.

They get almost $2400 to give 8 people an Italian ‘cooking experience?’ No thanks. You’d be better off going to a class at Sur la Table or something.

I cruise to get AWAY from cooking, so no go! Now, if we get to drink fine wine while learning to cook, then that is a different scenario altogether. 😉

I agree! Was on another cruise line a few years ago to fit with our daughter’s summer camp schedule & did a “Chef’s Table” with kitchen tour & then private chef’s & dinner (up to16) in private room, Wine paired with every course etc fo about $100 per person. Definately enjoyed the pampering!

I would love to do this!!! I always go to the cooking classes that are offered, and this would be perfect! I would much rather do this than a shore excursion. Count me in!!!

I am surprised they are doing this on the Grand Cayman day – of the three Western Ports that was by far my favorite as it was clean, safe, and had lots of fun and interesting things to do — pretty much the direct opposite of Nassau and Cozumel.

My husband had the opportunity to participate in this culinary experience (back in September) before it formally launched. He was able to provide feedback to the chef and shore excursions team in defining this experience. We paid full price, no discount was offered. We both thought it was a little pricey, but decided it was a too good of an opportunity to pass up. After he returned to the cabin he said without question, the experience was underpriced. He not only had the opportunity to work with the head chef at Palo preparing dishes, but then sat and ate those dishes with the chef, and drank wine pairings selected by the sommelier. He also received two 8×10 photos, one of him and the chef and the second…with him and chef Mickey. Photos were delivered to our stateroom in a leather bifold frame in a nice reusable PALO bag. He also received a PALO chef coat, personalized name tag, apron, and chef hat.
No idea if they decided to keep all of those perks in current offering, but if so, once word gets out, I believe this will be a sold out event every cruise.

      Julie,
Thanks for the info. Just one bit of advice… Never, ever let DCL know anything is underpriced. In all seriousness, it sound like it would be a fun experience and getting the PALO chef coat is icing on the cake.
