Disney Reveals the Ghoulish Details of the 2014 Halloween on the High Seas Sailings

Halloween on the High Seas will return in 2014 expanding to the entire Disney Cruise Line fleet on most sailings from late September through October. These sailings will feature frightfully fun events and activities complete with Halloween decorations, unique culinary treats, and spook-tacular themed deck parties. The Pumpkin Tree that was introduced in 2013 on the Disney Dream which magically transforms during the sailing has been grafted, and will grow on the other three ships in 2014. While news of the fleet wide rollout was revealed in December’s Castaway Club eCompass newsletter, we now have more details on the events that will take place on the ships.

Disney Dream Halloween On The High Seas The Pumpkin Tree
  • Mickey’s Mouse-querade Party | a celebration in addition to Pirate Night with games, dancing and lots of candy! Beloved Disney characters, wearing special Halloween costumes just for the occasion, will join guests for this fun-filled costume party.
  • A Nightmare Before Christmas—Sing and Scream | an interactive movie experience where guests are part of the action, followed by a meet-and-greet with Jack Skellington and Sally.
  • Haunted Stories of the Sea | the bravest cruisers gather under the stars to hear some true—or not so true—tales of the sea told by a mysterious sea captain storyteller.
  • Creepy Cabaret | A party in the atrium featuring favorite Halloween-themed music performed live by a band of ghostly musicians.
  • Halloween Isn’t Just For Kids | For adults, the nighttime entertainment district on each Disney ship becomes the ghoulish setting for a costume contest and a Villainous Takeover on the dance floor.
  • Spooky Movies | To get guests into the spirit of the season, Halloween-themed movies will be shown in Buena Vista Theatre, on Funnel Vision by the family pool and in guest staterooms.
  • Ghoulish Delights | Disney Cruise Line chefs have conjured some very special treats for Halloween, including chocolate cake with pumpkin filling, spider cakes and “Spooky Juice.”

Have they missed a cruise on the Fantasy, we are on the 1st November cruise, which appears to not be a Halloween one, but the cruises before this on the Fantasy are and the one starting on the 8th is????? Do you think this is a typo error.

Is there a reason why they are not offering Halloween events on the Oct 6 sailing on theWonder? I notice it’s offered on both the cruise before and after this sailing?

Well, Scott, I certainly hope so! Yesterday, I booked October 26 on the Magic (we were on the Magic and sailed from NY in June 2012). We can’t wait to see her with all her new stuff! My 9-year-old-to-be grandson will positively freak out if Jack and Sally are aboard. He has seen their movie DOZENS (and I do mean dozens!) of times!

Anyone notice that the price of the halloween cruises keep jumping up? The Oct 23 sailing on the Dream has gone up over $600.00 since I booked it. Disney has denitely hit the mark with the themed sailings.

I don’t think there is anything planned specifically for Halloween night than what is already listed. During the four night cruises you’re getting the pirate party one night and the halloween party on the second night. Plus there are a ton of halloween related activities, trick or treating, halloween tree, etc. They have extended the full blown halloween themed cruises to all of the ships. With all of this plus all of the normal Disney Cruise activities, you will be exhausted from all of it. Our cruise also has two stops at Castaway Cay too. I am not sure they could pack much more in.

Very excited about sailing on the Wonder Oct 17 – 22. We are super excited about the Halloween festivities. From what I understand, there will be a costume party??? My family of 8 is looking forward to bringing our costumes and taking part in the party.

I am thinking about the 3 night Disney Dream cruise but I am wondering about the character pictures. Are there opportunities to have pictures with the characters in Halloween costumes? The only notations that I see on the previous Navigators is the pirate costumes.

We were on the Christmas cruise and they actually have times in the atrium, or at the top of the stairs, when they bring out the characters in holiday costume attire. It’s actually a very smooth process. Chances are very high that they will have the characters in their Halloween outfits for autographs and pictures.

The last time I asked DCL, I was told “we do not have anything to share at this time.” This leads me to believe they are waiting to announce the dates as a way to boost bookings.
