Early 2015 Itinerary Speculation

It is about that time of year where we all start looking towards Disney Cruise Line’s next itinerary announcement. Now, I cannot tell you when Disney will release their 2015 itineraries other than Disney Cruise Line announced the itineraries for the first half of 2014 on December 4, 2012. With that being said, I’d pencil in December 3rd.

However, I can share with you a little hint at what may be to come for the first half of 2015 based on some port calendar research. Before we look at the potential early 2015 itineraries, I want to make it crystal clear that this is pure speculation, based upon a few know facts. I am using the word fact loosely, as the facts in question are the individual port calendars and the itineraries for each ship near the end of 2014, including each ship’s designated day at Castaway Cay. The port calendars have proven to be accurate in the past, but are not always accurate or up to date. A slight change could cause a ripple effect and throw everything you are about to read in a tailspin. So here is my disclaimer: Do not make definite travel plans based upon this speculative information.

Disney Dream

There are no publicly available port calendars for Nassau, so it is not possible to connect the dots and pinpoint any changes in the Disney Dream itineraries. The Disney Dream is the 3/4-night ship for DCL and unless something drastic changes, one can only assume that she will continue to sail the same alternating Bahamian itineraries with the three-night on Friday and the four-night on Mondays for the first half of 2015.

4-Night Bahamian Cruise on Disney Dream – Itinerary A from Port Canaveral, FL (Monday Departures)
Port Canaveral, FL • Nassau • Disney’s Castaway Cay • At Sea

  • 1/5/2015, 1/12/2015, 1/19/2015, 1/26/2015, 2/2/2015, 2/9/2015, 2/16/2015, 2/23/2015, 3/2/2015, 3/9/2015, 3/16/2015, 3/23/2015, 3/30/2015, 4/6/2015, 4/13/2015, 4/20/2015, 4/27/2015, 5/4/2015, 5/11/2015, 5/18/2015, 5/25/2015

Disney Fantasy

At the end of 2014, the Disney Fantasy will be sailing alternating 7-Night Eastern Caribbean cruises. Between January 6 – May 12, 2015, the Disney Fantasy appears every Tuesday on the St Maarten port calendar. The only difference is the arrival and departure times which match up with the similar port times for itineraries A and C.

As a result, I am speculating the Disney Fantasy will be sailing exclusively Eastern Caribbean cruises in the first half of 2015 alternating between itineraries with stops at San Juan and St Thomas on day 5.

7-Night Eastern Caribbean Cruise on Disney Fantasy – Itinerary A from Port Canaveral, FL
Port Canaveral, FL • At Sea • At Sea • St. Maarten • St. Thomas (w. St. John excursions) • At Sea • Disney’s Castaway Cay

  • 1/10/2015, 1/24/2015, 2/7/2015, 2/21/2015, 3/7/2015, 3/21/2015, 4/4/2015, 4/18/2015, 5/2/2015

7-Night Eastern Caribbean Cruise on Disney Fantasy – Itinerary C from Port Canaveral, FL
Port Canaveral, FL • At Sea • At Sea • St. Maarten • San Juan, Puerto Rico • At Sea • Disney’s Castaway Cay

  • 1/3/2015, 1/17/2015, 1/31/2015, 2/14/2015, 2/28/2015, 3/14/2015, 3/28/2015, 4/11/2015, 4/25/2015, 5/9/2015

Disney Wonder

At the end of 2014, the Disney Wonder will have settled into her new home of PortMiami. From January 11 to May 17, 2015, the Disney Wonder appears on the Grand Cayman port calendar on alternating Sundays with the same arrival time. This pattern is consistent with her 4/5/5-night pattern including Thursdays at Castaway Cay at the end of 2014.

This one was not as easy; but I did manage to work it all out on paper and it would appear that the Disney Wonder will continue this pattern. As with the Disney Dream, I am unable to determine which days the Disney Wonder will call on Nassau, so the 4-night Bahamian cruise could be itinerary B or D. In 2014, the 4-night Bahamian sailings are mostly itinerary B with itinerary D used twice in the fall.

4-Night Bahamian Cruise on Disney Wonder – Itinerary B(D) from Miami, FL (Wednesday Departures)
Miami, FL • Disney’s Castaway Cay • Nassau(Sea) • Key West, FL

  • 1/14/2015, 1/28/2015, 2/11/2015, 2/25/2015, 3/11/2015, 3/25/2015, 4/8/2015, 4/22/2015, 5/6/2015

5-Night Western Caribbean Cruise on Disney Wonder – Itinerary A from Miami, FL (Sunday Departures)
Miami, FL • At Sea • Cozumel, Mexico • At Sea • Disney’s Castaway Cay

  • 1/4/2015, 1/18/2015, 2/1/2015, 2/15/2015, 3/1/2015, 3/15/2015, 3/29/2015, 4/12/2015, 4/26/2015, 5/10/2015

5-Night Western Caribbean Cruise on Disney Wonder – Itinerary B from Miami, FL (Friday Departures)
Miami, FL • At Sea • Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands • Cozumel, Mexico • At Sea

  • 1/9/2015, 1/23/2015, 2/6/2015, 2/20/2015, 3/6/2015, 3/20/2015, 4/3/2015, 4/17/2015, 5/1/2015

Starting out 2015, there is a gap I could not pin down the Disney Wonder. Her last bookable sailing ends on December 30, 2014 leaving room for a 5-night cruise before the first speculated sailing in 2015. The other interesting tidbit is that the Disney Wonder is on the Grand Cayman calendar up to May 17, 2015. In 2013, she embarked on her Westbound Panama Canal cruise on May 6th and is scheduled for May 2, 2014. This would give here a late start to Alaska. This year, the first Alaskan cruise sailed from Vancouver on May 27th. In 2014, the first Alaskan cruise is scheduled for May 24th, the special 9-Night sailing that includes Sitka. Lets stick with the an easy number and say it requires 21 days for the Disney Wonder to reposition from Miami to Vancouver. If indeed the last appearance in Grand Cayman is correct, the Westbound Panama Canal cruise would embark from Miami on May 15, 2015 and include the stop in Grand Cayman on Day 3 the Disney Wonder. This scenario would have the Disney Wonder sailing Alaskan Cruises beginning potentially with another 9-Night starting June 6, 2015. Then, fall into line with 7-Night Alaskan cruises departing on Mondays beginning June 15, 2015.

Disney Magic

At the end of 2014, the Disney Magic will be sailing on alternating 7-night Western Caribbean cruise from Port Canaveral departing on Sundays. The Grand Cayman port calendar shows the Disney Magic in port every Wednesday between January 7 and May 20, 2015 with alternating arrival times matching the alternating pattern at the end of 2014.

Additionally, a new mystery ship appears on the Jamaica port calendar, PAJ43-5-4. We know for a fact that the last bookable sailing for the Magic includes a stop in Falmouth on 1/1/2015. Looking at the Jamaica port calendar the Magic is not listed on 1/1/15, but guess what does…. mystery ship, PAJ23-5-4! PAJ23-5-4 appears every other Thursday supporting the alternating Western Caribbean itineraries established in late 2014.

Jamaica Port Calendar January 2015 Mystery Ship PAJ23-5-4 = Disney Magic

As a result, the Disney Magic appears to be sailing 7-night Western Caribbean cruises from PC on Sundays in 2015 alternating between itineraries A and B. This makes sense to have the Magic doing all 7-night Western Caribbean cruises while the Fantasy is sailing all 7-night Eastern Caribbean cruises.

7-Night Western Caribbean Cruise on Disney Magic – Itinerary A from Port Canaveral, FL
Port Canaveral, FL • Key West, FL • At Sea • Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands • Cozumel, Mexico • At Sea • Disney’s Castaway Cay

  • 1/4/2015, 1/18/2015, 2/1/2015, 2/15/2015, 3/1/2015, 3/15/2015, 3/29/2015, 4/12/2015, 4/26/2015, 5/10/2015

7-Night Western Caribbean Cruise on Disney Magic – Itinerary B from Port Canaveral, FL
Port Canaveral, FL • At Sea • Cozumel, Mexico • Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands • Falmouth, Jamaica • At Sea • Disney’s Castaway Cay

  • 1/11/2015, 1/25/2015, 2/8/2015, 2/22/2015, 3/8/2015, 3/22/2015, 4/5/2015, 4/19/2015, 5/3/2015, 5/17/2015

There is still more to share with regard to the Disney Magic. The Jamaica calendar shows our old friend PAJ43-12 making weekly calls on Thursdays from May 28, 2015 to May 19, 2016. Could this indicate the Magic will sail exclusively Western Caribbean sailings with weekly stops at Falmouth, Jamaica and not sail to Europe, or the crowd favorite New York City in 2015?  Who knows for sure, but I should note that these 2015-2016 dates have been on the Falmouth calendar since October 2012 indicating they were part of the original plan back when Jamaica was officially added as a port of call. It is anyones guess if these dates may have since been scrapped and not updated on the port calendar, or if they are for another ship altogether.

What do you think about this speculation? Did I miss something, or have you heard anything?

You are amazing, to do all this research like this! Thanks for all the great info – dying for more Southern Caribbean itineraries to be added (since we can’t go this year), as well as another NYC sailing, but I guess we’ll see!

This info is just thru May and the summer is when they usually change things up (NYC, Alaska, Europe).

Let’s see… we have one ship doing 3/4 night Bahamas (Dream), one to do Easterns (Fantasy), and one to do Westerns (Magic). It makes sense that the Fantasy does all Easterns – bigger ship with the most to ‘do’ over three sea days = more $$$ to spend (BBB, etc.). I have a hard time believing that the Fantasy won’t go back to alternation Eastern/Westerns in the summer while the Magic goes elsewhere, but she’s on the Jamaica port calendar thru 2016 (& certainly that could change). She’ll be the ‘new, re imagined’ Magic, too. I wondered if she could be going to New Orleans & doing Westerns from there. Random thought.

I thought of something else…. What if the Wonder does indeed get dry docked, gets her duck tail, and instead of summering in Alaska, she stays (no WBPC) and perhaps does Southerns, or NYC or something? I dunno but it’s a thought. I’d hate to see that because we’d like to do Alaska in 2015. Alaska is profitable for DCL, tho. Again, just a random thought…..Scott likes facts – keeps him credible 🙂

Would be awesome if the Magic would do a western Caribbean route out of Galveston or NEW ORLEANS! Closer ports for us here in the Midwest 🙂 While the Wonder has been in Galveston…we cruised 8 day Bahamas in February and will go again for 7 days Bahamas over Thanksgiving with extended family. Loved the stop in Port Canaveral on the 8 day itinerary in February…would like to see more of that! Would also like to get on an itinerary that stops in Jamaica at some point too! Sad to see the Magic “change” because I think she is PERFECT as is…but everything changes and I trust Disney will make her even more magical 🙂

DCL will go to Falmouth Jamaica from Galveston this fall.

Compare the time of year DCL was in NY to when it sailed from Galveston & you will see one of the main reasons they can’t fill the ships from there. Also the 8-nights that included Castaway Cay & a 1-day PH ticket did sell fairly well, like they offered from NY. The comments or complaints I heard from people in the south when they knew DCL would be in Galveston: (1)Does that one have that cool slide that goes around the ship? (2)What’s available in the summer? (3)More expensive for same itineraries of other ships from same port. (3)Does it go to the parks?

The new Dream class ships & their amenities are more advertised than the Classic ships. Cruising out of Port Canaveral allows the option of a land & sea vacation & all itineraries visit Castaway Cay.

I hope with the updates to Magic they will start to advertise her beauty & greatness and guest will fill the ship.

Sailings from Galveston have not been what Disney has wanted (ships not full) I Can tell you that the Port Of New Orleans has been in talks to bring a ship to New Orleans and has traveled to Port Canaveral to meet with Disney. You can do Grand Cayman from New Orleans.

I will be so sorry to see them leave Galveston! We are taking our second November cruise out from there and it is so convenient! I kinda like the “not full” ships…good for us passengers, but not Disney.

Looking at the WB Panama Canal for the Wonder, if it leaves Miami on 5/15/15, when would it likely arrive in SD? LA? Where will the the repo cruise to Vancouver likely depart from?

It will be interesting to see how prices for a Western on the Magic compare to an Eastern on the Fantasy. I was set on doing another Eastern, because I figured the Magic would be in Europe, now this throws a kink in the plan. My boys really want to try out the new Magic.

I know it is not likely but has anyone heard if there is a possibiliy that in 2015 Disney ship might again go on a Baltic Sea trip or especially another 14 day cruise from LA to four Hawaiian Islands? We have eljoyed both and would love to do them again (especially Hawaii).

When was the Canada cruise? Were there any other cruises, such as Bermuda or Bahamas (like Carnival)? Being able to drive to NYC instead of flying to Florida would make it considerably more affordable.

The Canadian sailings were about this time last year from NYC. The sailings alternated between New England/Canadian cruises and 8-Night Bahamian cruises with stops at Port Canaveral for a day at Walt Disney World, Nassau, and Castaway Cay. Those sailings did not include Bermuda.

I would LOVE to have a Disney ship come to New Orleans. Our family would cruise quite often because we only live about 45 minutes from the port. We just got off the Dream last Thursday and it was so Magical!!! It would be much more convenient to drive 1 hour as opposed to 10.

Now that Disney has published 2015 dates – one should not take this postings as accurate. There is at least one sailing date error for the Fantasy.
