The Rest of 2014?

The Magic and Wonder itineraries end in May while the Dream and Fantasy extend until September.  Disney Cruise Line seems to be teasing new destinations in the latter part of 2014 with the following excerpt from the  Disney Parks Blog 2014 Itinerary announcement.

Now we can’t share all of the fun at once, so you’ll have to wait a little bit longer for the Disney cruise schedule in the latter part of 2014. But I can give you one hint as to which destinations we’ll visit: they will be magical!

I can only wonder if the new ports include:

  • St Lucia
  • St Croix
  • Aruba
  • Maderia, Portugal
  • Lisbon, Portugal
  • Cadiz, Spain
  • Copenhagen, Denmark

These Caribbean and European ports were briefly shown on the Disney Cruise Line site in early November.

What’s Missing?

It may seem like the regional home ports of Barcelona, Galveston, New York, Vancouver, and Seattle have been left out, but the second half of 2014 is still under wraps.  Historically, the Magic and Wonder head off on a transatlantic cruise to Europe and a Panama Canal cruise to the west coast in the summer, which still could happen based on the itinerary dates released today.  DCL’s New Itineraries and Ports for 2014 page focuses solely on the Bahamanian and the Caribbean itineraries which is expected based on the announcement.  However, for some reason Galveston is included even though there were no 2014 Galveston cruises announced.  This may indicate future sailings in the fall of 2014 from Galveston.

In April 2013 Kingdom Keepers VI (Disney teen book) comes out and in the books description It says one of the DCL ships will go through the new Panama Canal in 2014 and visit the caves of Aruba, the zip lines of Costa Rica, and the jungles of Mexico. The new canal expansion can handle ships the size of the Dream and Fantasy. Do you think we might see one of them move west and possible add some Hawaii routes?
