Royal Court Dinner Review

Royal Court is one of three rotational main dining restaurants on the [Disney_Fantasy], located Midship on Deck 3 just off the Atrium Lobby.  Royal Court is similar to Royal Palace on the [Disney_Dream].  The entrance to the restaurant features an inlaid  marble floor leads you to the pumpkin coach doorway.

Throughout the restaurant you will find these amazing fairytale inspired mosaic murals.

The Menu

Bread Service

After arriving at our table, our assistant server arrived with the Warm Herb Brioche with a tasty Olive Spread.  It may be called Olive Spread, but it works better when you dip the bread.  You cannot see it in this picture, but the bread basket is shaped like Cinderella’s pumpkin carriage.

Appetizer, Soups & Salads

My wife choose the Royal Market Green Salad.  The salad is a combination of sliced cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, peppered goat cheese, topped with a raspberry vinaigrette.

I knew before setting sail that I was going to order the Double Baked Spinach and Cheese Soufflé.  I had this appetizer on the Dream, and could not wait to try it again.  If you like savory cheese, this appetizer is for you.  I am not sure what I like most about this dish, the three-cheese cream or the basic Parmesan garnish.  The cream also goes well with the bread; think cheese fondue!

Main Course

Up to this point, my daughter has just used the children’s menu to color, and this night was no different, as she opted for the Grilled All Natural Chicken Breast Salad from the Lighter Note Offerings.  The salad arrives with a generous sized grilled chicken breast on romaine lettuce, tasty herbed croutons, cherry tomatoes, and a creamy parmesan dressing.  Our server was quick to cut up the chicken and salad into manageable bites so she could get started.

When it comes to fish, I am usually quite selective, but the Oven-Baked Salmon Royal my wife ordered looked great.  The king smoked salmon is topped with a horseradish crust on top of truffle-infused cauliflower purée.  The salmon is accompanied by sautéed swiss chard, and white wine beurre blanc.

I ordered the Baked Farm-Raised Chicken Breast which is stuffed with Escarole, Raisins, and Pine Nuts. The chicken is wrapped with procutto, and sits on a bed of wild rice with a red wine reduction and a side of asparagus.  The sweetness of the raisins provided a nice contrast to the savory chicken.

 Dessert

Now, most people rank Palo’s Chocolate Soufflé as the best dessert on a Disney Cruise, but my wife would argue that the Grand Marnier Soufflé is better.  The soufflé is infused with fresh orange zest and served with crème anglaise.  I know that food is highly subjective, but I also prefer the Grand Marnier Soufflé to Palo’s Chocolate version.

I have a hard time turning down a crème brûlée.  Royal Court’s Tahitian Vanilla Crème Brûlée is served with almond biscotti, and a strawberry.  It is a generous portion, and defiantly satisfied my craving for a crème brûlée.

This dinner happened to fall on Father’s Day, and as you walked into the restaurant there was a cake to commemorate the day.

After finishing dessert, our server stopped by with yet another plate.  I thought it was an extra he was trying to pass off, but low and behold, it was a special desert just for the Dads!  Dessert #2 was a cinnamon apple filled crepe a-la-mode.  My wife and daughter had left the table to get a head start in line for a character meet and greet so I felt bad wasting most of this one as it was something different.  I wish I knew this was coming, as I would have passed on the first dessert.

Not only was this Fathers Day, but it was also formal night. The elegance of Royal Court makes an excellent venue for formal night.
